Life Doesn’t Have to Be a Struggle

If you want to shed some extra pounds, go for it. Just because your previous attempts at dieting didn’t yield the results you expected doesn’t mean you should throw in the towel. When you take that leap of faith and embark on your weight loss journey, you might not see immediate results. Should you quit or pivot?

The things we desire are often within arm’s reach, but it takes effort on our part. Results may not come instantaneously, but they are attainable.

Here are three important things to keep in mind:

1. Overthinking can be a bully. You play out various scenarios in your mind, fixating on the “how” and losing sight of the “what.” Redirect that mental energy toward remembering what you truly want.

2. As an adult, you’ve likely been conditioned to believe that you’re in complete control of your life. However, control is often a mirage that gives us a false sense of entitlement. Entitlement is a mindset we should leave behind; it’s the domain of children, and there’s no room for it in adult life.

3. Stay flexible and never give up. It’s as simple as that. Fixation is a clear sign that you might not be ready for what you desire. Rejection can be tough to swallow, but sometimes it’s inevitable. Instead of dwelling on the blow to your ego, acknowledge the beautiful redirection that’s on its way. Redirection often leads us to precisely what’s perfect for us with minimal effort. Don’t fight against the current.

Ego isn’t inherently bad. It’s the unhealthy side of ego that tends to tarnish its reputation. The softer aspect of your ego provides the willpower needed to accomplish tasks. Balancing perseverance and knowing when to pivot can be a delicate dance.

I won’t pretend that you’ll instantly achieve all your wildest dreams, but I can assure you that achieving your smaller goals can snowball into greater accomplishments. Whether you reach them or not depends on how you navigate the journey.
